Samantha Baker Obituary, DAPHNE, ALABAMA — A tragic family stabbing in Daphne, Alabama, claimed the life of 37-year-old Samantha Baker and left her husband, Lance Baker, critically injured after authorities say the couple’s 17-year-old son allegedly attacked them during a domestic dispute on the evening of July 5, 2026.

According to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence after receiving reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found Samantha Baker suffering from critical injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts by emergency responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, 46-year-old Lance Baker, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital, where he remained in critical condition.

Investigators said the violence began after an argument involving disciplinary actions escalated inside the family home. Authorities allege the 17-year-old armed himself with a knife and attacked both of his parents inside the residence before the assault continued outside. The suspect later barricaded himself inside the home, called 911, and surrendered peacefully to responding deputies. He has been charged as an adult with murder and attempted murder, and a judge set his bond at $1 million during his initial court appearance. Officials have not publicly released the teen’s identity because of his age.

Neighbors described a terrifying scene as Lance Baker desperately searched for help. Home surveillance footage reportedly captured him running through the neighborhood while pleading, “Please help me. I don’t want to die,” as he knocked on nearby doors. Residents also reported seeing bloody handprints on several homes where he attempted to get someone’s attention before emergency responders arrived. Authorities said the crime scene extended beyond the family’s property into neighboring yards as the attack unfolded.

Samantha Baker was well known in her community as a realtor and military veteran. Before entering real estate, she served for six years in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve, where she met her future husband. Lance Baker has served in the U.S. Army Reserve for more than 26 years and currently serves as Battalion Commander of the 1184th Deployment and Distribution Support Battalion based in Mobile. Friends and community members have remembered Samantha for her service, dedication to her family, and commitment to those around her.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office said investigators believe the incident was an isolated domestic tragedy. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue gathering evidence and preparing the case for prosecution. Samantha Baker’s death has deeply affected her family, friends, neighbors, and the wider community. May she rest in peace.
