With profound sadness and heavy hearts, family, friends, and members of the Alliance community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Erin Stevens, 30, whose life was tragically cut short following a devastating two-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Canton, Ohio. According to the Canton Police Department, officers responded around 10:27 a.m. to the intersection of U.S. 62 and Harmont Avenue NE after receiving reports of a serious crash.
Investigators said a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on U.S. 62 when it collided with a 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage that was turning south onto Harmont Avenue from westbound U.S. 62. The force of the impact pushed both vehicles into the southeast corner of the intersection, causing the Chevrolet to overturn.
Police said the driver of the Mitsubishi Mirage, identified as Erin Stevens of Alliance, Ohio, had to be removed from the vehicle due to the severity of the crash. Both drivers were transported to Aultman Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chevrolet was treated and later released, while Stevens was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Canton Metro Crash Team is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities said speed is not believed to have been a contributing factor, and investigators are still working to determine whether drugs or alcohol played any role in the crash.
The sudden loss of Erin Stevens has left family, friends, and loved ones devastated as they remember her life and the impact she had on those around her. May Erin Stevens rest in peace, and may her loved ones find comfort and strength during this difficult time.
