A 31-year-old man has died after a stabbing Sunday night in Centerville, Georgia, according to authorities. The Houston County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Cortez Lashawn Williamson, 31.
According to Houston County Coroner James Williams, the stabbing occurred at a home in the 300 block of Ridgewood Drive on Sunday night. Emergency responders transported Williamson to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon for treatment, but despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries.
Coroner Williams said the Centerville Police Department is leading the investigation into the fatal stabbing. Williamson’s body will be taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted to help determine the exact cause and manner of death.
Authorities noted that Williamson’s death marks Houston County’s third homicide of the year.
