Ashley Moore Obituary, GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Ashley Moore, a 37-year-old Cleveland County paramedic and Field Training Officer, has died following a tragic line-of-duty crash while responding to a call in Gaston County. Moore, who dedicated nine years of service to Cleveland County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), was killed while working to help others.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened Monday on U.S. Highway 74 near Interstate 85. Investigators said a Cleveland County EMS ambulance transporting a patient was attempting to make a U-turn when it was struck from behind by another vehicle, causing the ambulance to overturn onto its side.
Moore suffered fatal injuries in the crash despite emergency responders’ efforts. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the condition of the patient being transported or other individuals involved in the collision.
Following the investigation, authorities arrested Jared ONeil Logan and charged him in connection with the crash, including second-degree murder without regard to others, driving while impaired (DWI), reckless driving, and failure to wear a seat belt. Logan is being held at the Gaston County Jail without bond as the case moves forward.
