With profound sadness and heavy hearts, family, friends, and members of the Canton community are grieving the heartbreaking loss of Rhion Stanford, 20, whose life ended following a tragic shooting inside a home in Canton, Ohio, early Saturday morning.
Rhion’s unexpected passing has left a deep void in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for the memories he created, the people he touched, and the moments shared with his family, friends, and loved ones.
According to Canton police, officers responded around 4:20 a.m. Saturday, July 18, to a home in the 800 block of Garfield Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting. When authorities arrived, they found Rhion suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside a bedroom. Emergency crews immediately provided first aid at the scene before firefighters transported Rhion to Aultman Hospital for medical treatment. Despite efforts to save his life, Rhion later died from his injuries.
Police identified Amondo T. M. Cole, 28, as the suspect in the shooting. Authorities said Cole was arrested at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital after arriving there for treatment of gunshot wounds he sustained during the same incident. Cole was taken into custody and booked into the Stark County Jail, where he faces a charge of murder.
