With profound sadness, we remember and honor the lives of Dr. Gabriel P. Jasper, 70, his daughter, Gabriella M. Hillgrube, 33, and his 2-year-old granddaughter, Guiliana M. Hillgrube, who were tragically killed in a plane crash Monday night in Harrietstown, New York. According to New York State Police, the three family members died after a small aircraft crashed shortly after taking off from Adirondack Regional Airport in Harrietstown, located in Franklin County near Saranac Lake in the Adirondack Mountains.

Dr. Jasper, a respected physician and accomplished spine specialist from Toms River, was piloting the aircraft at the time of the crash. Authorities identified him as the pilot of the 1976 Piper Aerostar that departed the airport at approximately 10:36 p.m. Monday.

Investigators said the plane climbed to an estimated altitude of about 100 feet above the ground before communication with the aircraft was lost. Emergency crews later located the wreckage, which had crashed and caught fire, leading to a large multi-agency emergency response.

All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Dr. Jasper was remembered as a dedicated medical professional whose career was defined by his commitment to helping others. His daughter, Gabriella, and young granddaughter, Guiliana, were cherished members of their family whose lives were taken far too soon.

The devastating loss of three generations of one family has left loved ones and communities in New Jersey and beyond grieving. Friends and those who knew the family are remembering them for the love, kindness, and memories they shared.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing. The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation with assistance from the Federal Aviation Administration and New York State Police. Officials said more details will be released as investigators continue working to determine what led to the tragic accident.

May Dr. Gabriel Jasper, Gabriella Hillgrube, and little Guiliana Hillgrube be remembered forever, and may their family find strength and comfort during this unimaginable time of loss.
