A deadly shooting at a Great Bend Township residence has claimed the lives of three people, leaving families, friends, and communities across Pennsylvania and New York mourning. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, troopers responded at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, to a residence at 1208 Baptist Hill Road in Great Bend Township, Susquehanna County, following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered three deceased individuals at the scene. The victims were identified as:
- Phillip Johnson, 53, of Hallstead, Pennsylvania
- Kevin Igo, 26, of Susquehanna, Pennsylvania
- Frank Talarico, 29, of Binghamton, New York
Investigators later located and arrested Garrett Austin Johnson, 29, of Hallstead, Pennsylvania, a short distance from the residence. The firearm involved in the incident was recovered by investigators. Johnson has been charged with three counts of Criminal Homicide and additional offenses, including Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jodi L. Cordner and was taken to the Lackawanna County Prison without bail.
The investigation remains active and is being handled by the Pennsylvania State Police Troop R Major Case Team, with assistance from the Forensic Services Unit, CARS, and the Susquehanna County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
