A fatal overnight shooting in Columbus, Georgia, has claimed the life of a 34-year-old man, marking another deadly act of gun violence as the city continues to grapple with a recent surge in shootings. According to authorities, the shooting occurred at approximately 11:49 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, in the 1100 block of Curtis Street, located in the city’s Waverly Terrace Historic District.
The victim was identified as Davon Wallace, 34, of Columbus. Emergency responders transported Wallace to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown for treatment after he suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.
Wallace’s death adds to a troubling series of violent incidents that have shaken the Columbus community in recent days. Since July 9, six people have been shot across the city, with three of those victims losing their lives. The recent violence has raised growing concerns among residents and city officials as investigators work to identify those responsible.
